Introducing New Learning A-Z Badges
The Learning A-Z student learning experience is now more engaging than ever. We’re excited to introduce new Learning A-Z badges! Now, your students using the Kids A-Z student portal—included with Raz-Plus, Raz-Kids, Science A-Z, Headsprout, and Writing A-Z—can earn badges as rewards for achieving milestones.
What Is It?
After conducting research and meeting with educators to discuss student motivation and engagement, we found that providing immediate rewards, such as badges, trophies, and points, are the most effective incentive for students – especially for upper elementary students. The new badges in Kids A-Z instantly reward students when they achieve specific milestones, which encourages goal setting and incentivizes students to become more engaged in their learning.
Use the new badges to help your students set goals and complete more reading, writing, and science activities. You can even print out the badges to send home or hang on the wall!
Where Is It?
Students access the new Badges through the My Stats area in Kids A-Z.
- Upon logging into kidsa-z.com as a student, click on My Stats in the bottom center.
- From this page, click on Badges at the top center of the page.
- In the Badges room, students can see all badges they are eligible to receive, with a brief description of the requirements needed to earn each badge. Badges they have earned will be shown in full color. Note: The badges displayed will vary based on the products to which your students have access.
Coming soon, students using the new, customizable portal design will be able to access the Badges area by clicking on the Badges button displayed on the home page upon logging in to kidsa-z.com.
Concept art, not final.
How Do Students Use It?
Each badge has a different set of requirements that students must complete in order for it to be unlocked and awarded. For example, the "Super Reader" badge is achieved when a student reads at least one book a day for five consecutive days.
When a student earns a badge, they will instantly receive an “Achievement Earned” notification. This alert is an exciting accomplishment for students that helps them feel encouraged and motivated to continue to earn and collect badges.
Students will also be alerted with a new message in their Messages area.
By visiting the Badges room, students can monitor the progress they have made toward earning individual badges, which helps motivate them to accomplish their goal.
