With the March 2018 issue of Science in the News, students can follow the most recent stories making an impact in the world of science. This issue includes an article about engineers who are working to develop an edible replacement to plastic. Students have the opportunity to conduct a “litter survey” to determine if edible food wrappers could help reduce waste in their area. Students will also learn about scientists who are developing a “liquid armor” to protect astronauts in space, how plants “pass out” under anesthesia just like people and animals do, and how bright lights can divert baby sea turtles from making their way back to the ocean.
Science in the News photographs and stories take students on adventures through a variety of scientific topics. Each issue is available in versions for early, middle, and upper elementary students. With a subscription to Science A-Z, you can access printable, projectable, and digital eResource versions of each issue.
